The Montgomerie Men’s Open took place over the weekend of the 17th & 18th October. Being the first event of the EGF order of merit season, an impressive field of players assembled all in the hope of getting their season started on a positive note. Leading the way after round 1, was the defending champion Max Burrow who shot a superb 67 gross to lead by 1, with two juniors Rayhan Thomas and Mikhail Roger Pinto in second after very impressive rounds of 68 gross. 2012 winner James Yeoman’s shot a 70 gross and Bayhaan Lakdawala 71 gross which set up an exciting day 2 ahead. Bayhaan got off to a fast start on day 2 with birdies on hole 1, 3, eagle on 4, birdie on 5 and birdie on 9 for a front nine on 30 to take the lead and eventually shoot a superb 65 gross to take victory on a total of 136 -8. Max Burrow finished second after shooting 71 on day 2, finishing 2 shots behind on 138 -6 with James Yeoman’s in third after two rounds of 70 for a total of 140 -4.
